Melbourne Hall

The Tree and Woodland Company have created management plans for the restoration of a Lime avenue and the wooded setting of Intake Pool at Melbourne, both features being of high landscape value. Their subsequent project management of the work proposals was highly professional and has enabled outstanding results to be achieved. We are very pleased with the outcome and would recommend them to other estates wishing to undertake tree and woodland projects.

Sonning Golf Club

Sonning Golf Club has 18.3 hectares of woodland that, until 2008 had been completely unmanaged.  The Tree and Woodland Company were brought in to create a ten year woodland plan with the goal to help preserve and improve the woodland landscape whilst enhancing the relationship between woodland and golf course. Now, four years on and with the guidance of The Tree and Woodland Company Sonning’s woodland is looking healthy and sustainable.  Woodland edges have been recreated with extensive planting of native / naturalized species and through clearance and regular weed control woodland flora has seen a vast improvement. The input from The Tree and Woodland Company over these past four years has been invaluable to the progression of our golf course.  I look forward to working in conjunction with The Tree and Woodland Company for many years to come.

Stuart Job, Woodland & Deputy Golf Course Manager.

The Landscape Agency

I  have worked with Andrew for 15 years. He has an extraordinary depth of knowledge about trees, their management and conservation. He has also worked extensively across a very wide range of sites across the United Kingdom from Grade I registered historic parks to urban, brownfield sites.  I would always seek his advice on matters relating to trees, woodland and forestry.

Patrick James, Managing Director.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

In 2009 YSP commissioned a new Historic Landscape Management Plan, the contribution made by The Tree and Woodland Company was invaluable. They then expertly informed and supervised a programme of selective thinning and felling to re connect the historic landscape as part of an ambitious restoration programme.

Carter Jonas LLP

We have used the Tree & Woodland Company for three or four years now for anything from stewardship schemes to woodland compartment notes and providing more general advice on viability of projects and scoping reports. We have found them excellent. They stick to fee quotes, turn up when they say they will and liaise with tenants, gamekeepers and ourselves without problem. Communication is good throughout and timescales are kept. They have always had an eye on cost effectiveness and value for money and are prepared to go that little bit further, which helps an awful lot. Recently we have used them for a large parkland HLS scheme and they have helped tremendously in adding value to the Estate and providing detailed instructions to the men on the ground that are doing the work.

Andrew Bowman Shaw three years ago when he was in partnership with the Landscape Agency assisted English Heritage in the development of a 20 year Tree and Woodland Plan that has formed the backbone of our strategy for the presentation and care of Wrest Park, an important Grade 1 registered landscape.

Ramboll UK Ltd

“The Tree and Woodland Company have given us excellent advice on the management of the trees on several school sites across London, informing the new build design and improving the quality of the end product. We will use them again in the future when similar projects arise.”

Paul Collins, Project Associate.

The Tree and Woodland Company combines professionalism, practicality and clear understanding of client requirements. This has enabled us to design a new landscape appropriate for the setting of a Grade I listed building.
